Hong Kong’s First St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Join members of the St. Patrick’s Society and their families at Hong Kong’s first St Patrick’s Day Parade, featuring Chinese, Irish, and Scottish dancing, Dragon Dancers and Kung Fu groups, as well as marching bands. For the third year running, four piece Irish band Dargle will get you singing as they play a traditional live music session at Delaney’s in Cyberport on the day and again on Tuesday night in Wan Chai if you still feel the spirit of St. Patrick. As always guest musicians are very welcome. Watch the sun go down with a few cold ones to the sounds of Ireland’s finest. Let Colin Murphy, Ian Coppinger, and Colum McDonnell dazzle you with their razor sharp wit during a night of 100% Irish live comedy stand-up. Grab a pint and watch them raise the roof this St. Paddy’s day. And don’t miss out on the pre-show buffet for ($150 from 7-9pm) and happy hour drinks from 6-7:30pm. Grab a leprechaun costume and turn the streets of Lan Kwai Fong green alongside hundreds of the mythical fellas at Hong Kong’s first ever Operation Leprechaun. Organised by the teams behind Solas, Kinsale, and Rula Bula (all Irish nationals who now reside in Hong Kong), the event will raise funds for charity by selling Leprechaun suits for just $200 to anyone wanting to get in on the magic. The suits are available for purchase now at Rula Bula, Solas, and Kinsale Restaurant in Kennedy Town and all profits will go directly to Foodlink, which re-distribute hot food to those in need in Hong Kong, and the Laura Lynn House in Dublin, Ireland, which cares for terminally ill children. Anyone who purchases a suit will also get one free standard drink on the evening of the event at Rula Bula. So what are you waiting for, follow the rainbow to find your pot of gold … in the form of a pint.
