For three weeks between April 12th and May 4th, Stanley visitors will be reminded of the consequences of our everyday behaviour on the environment. Works from more than 50 artists, including Liina Klauss, Candice Keung and Lindsey McAlister, have been created from an impressive haul of 4,200 discarded plastic bottles, 350 glass bottles and 500 CDs. “Instead of taking the usual approach of trying to shock people with facts, we hope to use art to capture people’s attention and inspire positive action”, explains Douglas Woodring, Founder of Ocean Recovery Alliance.© Liina Klauss
Dance performances will be held on April 12th at 2:30pm, and on April 13th, 19th, and 20th at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. Also be sure to catch a the pre-festival screenings of the third annual Hong Kong – San Francisco International Ocean Film Festival from May 6th to 11th. Ocean Art Walk is the result of a collaboration between Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation, the Ocean Recovery Alliance, The Link, Stanley Plaza and the Southern District Council. All events, performances and guided tours are free!© Shawn Heinrichs
