Novelty Gifts for Valentines

By Sophie Pettit 6 February 2015
If you are going down the Valentine's Day route this week, why not think outside the box and go for the novelty factor? Here are a few fun ideas we spotted around the city that might make you stand out from the crowd and avoid a classic cliche. Flowers and chocolates? Yawn. Well, unless if they are delivered by drone.

 Burn Cupcakes

We stumbled upon these quirky gems in a cute home fragrances shop, SWY (Scent With You) in our neighbourhood, Sheung Wan. With shelves full of wax goodies, designed to bring bliss and harmony to your home, there's more than enough sweet treats and magic macaroons to fill a cake stand and melt even the most cynical of hearts. What says "I love you" more than a Shark Attack or a Bubble Duck? No need to count any calories either - win!

Drink Perfume

Stylish little bar Highline has teamed up with classic British perfumery Penhaligon's to make every girl's dream a reality and turn beautiful scents into drinks. Let her choose her favourite perfume from a selection of four and watch the magic mixologists transform it into a handcrafted drink guaranteed to titillate her taste buds. These tipples are bold, gutsy, and oozing with originality. I've tried all four and honesty can't choose my favourite, but each one is entirely different and bursting with flavour and aroma, featuring gin and vodka and ranging from sweet and floral, to woody and peppery. The presentation of these drinks is incredible and she'll be blown away as she raises her tea cup and little crystal bowl. Every sip is bliss!

Eat on Water

If you have a bigger budget, Jungle Jane is ready to whisk you away from the crowds into possibly the most unique setting you will be able to find in Hong Kong this V Day. For intimacy they are reducing the normal dinner setting to only 15 couples so you can have your privacy and enjoy a fully catered 5-course Valentine's menu, designed and served by The Butchers Club with paired wines from Adelaide Cellar Door. And if that wasn't enough, the package also includes a $500 voucher from Ready Flowers, a leading online florist that specialises in sending flowers around the globe, so you can continue the romance with a delivery of beautiful blooms.
