NEWS: Vigil For Paris Takes Place Tonight

By Sophie Pettit 16 November 2015
A vigil for the 129 people killed in the Paris attacks will be held at Tamar Park tonight at 6.30pm. A minute of silence will be observed at 7pm, at the very same moment French and European fellow citizens will do so. The vigil has been organised by the Consulate General of France, which will also have a condolence book at its Admiralty Centre offices from Monday to Wednesday.
A candlelight vigil was held at the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park in Sheung Wan on Saturday night, drawing a crowd of several hundred who came to pay their respects and condoleances for the victims and families effected by the attacks. The French Consul General Eric Berti attended and announced that all consular-supported events this week, such as the opening of the French Film Festival, will start with one minute’s silence. An estimated 18,000 French nationals call Hong Kong home, more than double the number a decade ago, and our thoughts go out to everyone effected. More information on tonight's vigil can be found on the Consulate's Facebook page.
