Hong Kong is often praised for its entrepreneurial spirit, topping the latest Bloomberg Rankings as the world's most attractive countries for business for the third year running. This can-do attitude is what fueled two European design students, Jonathan Ramalho and Oliver Lehtonen, to create their documentary
Designers Inbetween, which follows the journey of passionate innovators who succeeded in turning their start-up dreams into a reality.
With money raised on
Kickstarter, the duo set out to speak with entrepreneurs from all over Hong Kong, capturing 40 interviews and around 50 hours of footage which they edited into their inspiring documentary for budding business owners.

Weaving together interviews from watchmakers and fashion designers to the inventor of the waterproof iPhone case, the collection of real accounts explores the ins and outs and ups and downs of starting and building a company in Hong Kong.
And the end result is well worth the wait. Despite having to leave Hong Kong due to expired visas, and returning to Europe to complete their studies, the duo’s work has not gone unnoticed. The film's premiere was held during
Hong Kong Business of Design Week in December where it was a hit amongst the crowd and the full-length documentary is set to be released for rent or
purchase on January 25.
Currently busy with documentary festival submissions and conversations with several broadcasters, whilst planning for a global tour starting with Europe, the creators look forward to inspiring and motivating future entrepreneurs and keeping that can-do attitude alive and kicking.
