Movember - When it’s Ok to be Hairy

By Localiiz 30 October 2013
October 29th 2013, courtesy of our friends at NecesCity With the hectic 24-7 lives we lead in Hong Kong, it’s a good thing when we can take a minute to band together in the name of a good cause, especially if all it requires is a little laziness. Which is why, for men at least, Movember provides the year’s most painless opportunity to be selfless. If you have the ability to grow facial hair, because let’s face it, not all men do, it’s time to ditch the razor and handle a handlebar, fashion a Fu Manchu, design your own Dali or style a Stalin in the month of November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancers. To sweeten the deal, the Mandarin Barber at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, which has been serving Hong Kong’s gorgeously groomed gentlemen since 1963, will once again be supporting the city’s Movember efforts. Gents going in for a bit of luxury grooming will not only spend the month looking sharp, but also automatically donate HK$100 to the Movember cause for certain bookings. Drop in any time during the month to keep your trucker or magnum looking its best, or visit between November 5th and 9th to get a haircut or wet shave by one of two visiting master barbers from the British Barber’s Association. As a special treat, the Mandarin Oriental is also giving two lucky NecesCity readers the chance to win a tub of lavish post-shave balm valued at HK$380. To enter the competition, all you have to do is like the NecesCity and Mandarin Oriental Facebook pages, and complete the short form on the NecesCity website. Finally, it’s time to unleash your best Chopper Read.
