Shopping Hong Kong Presents: Holiday Bazaars 2016

Hitting the perfect balance between pricey designer stores and low quality market fare, these are events you need to dot in your diary right now. In addition to fine foods and jewellery, make sure you check out the offerings of the Art Futures Group, Silk Road Desire, and Auspicious Times Books. And to make things even easier, credit cards are accepted at both events. Showcasing a popular selection of Hong Kong brands, this year marks the 8th edition of DSTS and Kee Club's collaborative holiday bazaar. Shop til' you drop in the swanky setting, and then refuel on free-flow dim sum and mince pies before ticking some more gifts off your list. Plus, this year there will be a Luxury Charity Bake Sale offering sweet treats from the city's top patisseries and bakeries, with all proceeds going to charity. Delicious!

GSIS Christmas Bazaar

This is a smaller fair, organised by German Swiss International School (GSIS) with, unsurprisingly, a focus on German Swiss goods. Expect regional delicacies such as Raclette, pretzels, and glühwein, and a few specialty stores selling German Christmas foods, advent wreaths, and more. There will also be entertainment courtesy of the GSIS Big Band, and a Games Alley for little ones with over 30 game stalls. Hullett House

Hullett House Christmas Market

Get in the festive spirit at Kowloon's merriest marketplace in Hullett House. This year the grand, colonial venue is getting a Nordic makeover - minus the freezing temperatures of course. Traditional decorations, Belgian waffles, hand-crafted gifts, and fashionable clothing ranges are just the start of the story. Wander through the Santa Claus Village and post your wish list to Father Christmas via the Hullett House Christmas Post Office. You might even bump into Santa himself so keep your eyes peeled! Local vendors are the stars of the show at the Bradbury School Winter Night Market. In addition to the usual market fare, such as books, food, and musical entertainment, this event boasts a silent auction. There's no parking at the venue, so make your way there via the regular shuttle buses from Central and The Cricket Club. Italian Day at Sandy Bay

Now into its third decade of charity markets, Italian Day at Sandy Bay is well worth reserving a slot in your diary for. This sociable day out is all about bellissimo gifts (keep your eyes peeled for discounted designer gear), delicious food, and getting to know the Italian community -  and all for a good cause, with over $1 million donated to charity last year! Just remember to take your own shopping bags.
