Take a stroll through the streets of Sheung Wan and you’ll stumble upon the weird and wonderful world of street art at its finest. The murals were created by a talented team of local and internationals artists from not-for-profit
HKwalls, who last year transformed the neighbourhood with 15 giant canvases during their HKwalls Street Art Festival.

Well, this year the team returns with spray cans at the ready and high hopes of making a bigger and better outdoor gallery, but they need a little help to make it happen - USD$5,000 to be exact.
“While last year we spent very little money and almost everything was covered by material donations from our valued partners,” organisers tell Localiiz. “This year we want to cover more walls and more territory, reaching out to a wider community. We have secured a number of walls in Sheung Wan and Central, Hong Kong, which require scaffolding, adequate safety precautions, and of course copious amount of paint.
"All of the funding will go directly into organising the 2015 festival; primarily this means paint, ladders and scaffolding but if we exceed our goals, extra funding will go toward basic accommodation for overseas artists and developing supplemental education programs, like a public film series and talks with the artists.”
To help rally up the dollars, the determined team turned to the world's largest global fundraising website
Indiegogo to launch their HKwalls campaign to paint the town red, blue, and all kinds of colours. The festival date is set for March 9-15, but with only 27 days left to fundraise and only USD900 (18%) donated so far, there's still a long way to go.
"Give graciously and generously, and help us bring some color and creativity to the streets of Hong Kong. All contributors will be acknowledged on the HKwalls website. You can also donate your exterior wall because without walls, we have nothing to paint," organisers request.
