Daniel Barwell created ‘The Other-Side’, a video showcasing the dynamic nature of our city. We spoke with Barwell to find out the vision behind his recent video.

Raised in Hong Kong, Barwell set out to document his home city in the summer of 2014. “I feel like by showing you my home, I’ll be showing you a part of myself," Barwell told Localiiz. "The Other-side in the title represents a few things, such as Hong Kong being the other side of the earth to the UK - my initial place of birth. 80% of Hong Kong’s population live in 10% of it’s area and the rest are country parks and forests. The difference of living in tall apartments in Central to living out near Sai Kung really personifies the kind of diversity I wanted to show in my film.”
Featuring beautiful shots of the golden hour on the harbour, wonderful telephoto close ups on bugs, and picturesque views of the city and countryside, Barwell created exactly what he envisioned. "I wanted to show the city as a living thing, that even though it was more man made, it is still alive because Hong Kong is so dynamic.”
