Rugby Club Honours Fallen Players, March 27

By Localiiz 25 March 2015
On the night of October 12, 2002, violent terrorist bombings in Bali stole the lives of 202 people. Among those who had their lives senselessly ended were 27 players and supporters from different rugby teams across South East Asia, including 11 from the Hong Kong Football Club, who were attending a 10-a-side rugby tournament. Hong Kong’s rugby community was devastated. Nearly thirteen years later, the Hong Kong Football Club continues to honour the memory of its stolen players, as well as supporting the families of the victims and survivors, by hosting its annual Bali Memorial Match. This year the Potbellied Pigs Rugby Football Club will be joined on the pitch by the HKFC Vandals. The Club is inviting non-members to come and watch the game for free on a day that has borne a celebration of life from the Club's darkest hours. There will be a minute of silence before kick off, after which the game will commence and the players will do their teammates proud. When: March 27, 1pm Where:  Hong Kong Football Club, 3 Sports Road, Happy Valley Price: FREE to watch (beers and refreshments available to buy from the cash bar on the pitch side)
