It’s that time of the year again when it’s socially acceptable to scoff as much chocolate as humanly possible, yippee! Not only that, but school is out and holidays are booked. Many Hong-Kongers choose to spend their Easters away, but what is there to do for those stuck in the city? Staycationers fear not, as we’ve put together our Insider Guide to Hong Kong Easter 2014, compiled in collaboration with Kwiksure. Family Fun RockABaby is throwing an Easter Picnic Family Fun Day at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park in Sai Wan on April 12th. RockABaby’s first outdoor classroom event will comprise of a fun-filled day of eco arts and crafts, egg hunts and live music. Love Our Earth Easter camp workshops for children aged 9 months to 10 years will also be running from April 12-25th. Prefer an Easter egg hunt away from the hustle and bustle on HK Island? The Discovery Bay Easter Egg Hunt on the Beach + Fun Fair is ideal for those who want to explore the outlying islands and celebrate Easter at the same time. There will be more than 30,000 eggs hidden on Tai Pak Beach, and more than 30,000 prizes to be won on April 18th and 19th. Celebrate Easter by showing some love for rabbits with Bunny Whispers Paradise at Harbour City. LCX and illustrator Ethel Chow have collaborated to bring Hong Kongers a one-of-a-kind solo exhibition until April 21st. In addition, LCX has joined forces with the Hong Kong Rabbit Society to hold an annual Kissing Rabbit Adoption Day from April 18th-21st. If you’re not looking to welcome a little furry friend into your family however, you can still help by donating HK$20 to take a photo with a rabbit at the charity photo corner. Bubba Gump on the Peak is having an Easter party and you’re invited! Easter activities including egg painting will vie for attention alongside a play area, a ball pit, a special kiddies’ menu and plenty of sweet treats from April 18th-21st. Easter Camps Learning Hong Kong newcomers Bricks4Kidz is not only fun, but also guaranteed to have your brood stretching their thinking muscles over the Easter holidays. Teachers, engineers, and architects created Bricks4Kidz with the aim of introducing children to mathematical, technological and scientific concepts using LEGO. Easter classes will run from April 14th- 25th at several locations across Hong Kong, including Discovery Bay, Kowloon and Causeway Bay. Have your kids put the holidays to good use by brushing up on their Mandarin skills at the Yifan Mandarin Easter Camp. Classes will run from April 14th-26th at the language school’s three locations in Sheung Wan, Discovery Bay and Central. Two separate camps will be available: one for 2.5-7 year-olds, and one for teens. Adults can also improve their language skills by booking individual classes. Unleash your child’s inner Master Chef with Café Deco Group’s Dim Sum Bar cooking classes on April 15th and 16th. Art & Music If you’re somewhat of a creative crew, Hong Kong Art Tutoring (HKAT) will have the perfect programmes for all over Easter. The little ones can get messy with sister company’s, Artful Kids, egg painting and card making workshops from April 5th-17th, while HKAT Easter Camps aimed at older age groups will be held from April 14th-25th. Adult evening classes are also on offer, so you can spend time with the family during the day, and get creative (with a glass of wine) at night. Do your kids play instruments or simply love music? My Musical Studio will be right up their alley! Classes are suitable for ages 2-12 and cover a wide range of musical genres, including baby jazz, musical theatre, hip-hop and cheer dance. My Musical Studio’s Easter camps run across two separate weeks, April 14-17th and April 22nd-25th. Katterwall will have the whole family singing ‘til their heart’s content over the holidays! From choir classes to one-on-one singing lessons, these Sheung Wan-based showstoppers have a wide range of workshops available for both adults and children. Kids’ Easter programmes suitable for ages 5-18 will run from April 14th-25th, while Music 101 class for adults will be held on April 15th,16th, 24th and 25th. More information can be found here. Sport Kinder Kicks is a soccer programme specifically designed for pre-schoolers, so get those little ones burning off some energy on the pitch this Easter. In addition to their Easter camps between April 14th-17th and April 22nd -25th, Kinder Kicks also run holiday courses throughout the year. Worth making a note in your diary for the next time school’s out! If you’re looking for classes suitable for 5-14 year-olds however, Asia Pacific Soccer School (APSS) will be the ticket for you. It doesn’t matter what level your child is at or where you live, as APSS coaches around Hong Kong and boasts a variety of classes for both boys and girls of all abilities. Their Easter camp starts on April 14th and finishes on April 25th with sessions running at several locations on HK Island and Kowloon. Tennis fanatics will love Peak Performance. Not only does this academy offer classes and training for kids, but adults can get into the swing of things too (cheesy pun intended). Hong Kong’s most qualified tennis coaches offer fun sessions for tots upward, with Easter camps running across two weeks from April 14th-17th and 22nd-25th. MiniSport HK is ideal for younger kids who like to keep active and are interested in a wide range of sport-based activities. This year, Minisport HK is hosting two toddler-tastic Easter camps. The first is already fully booked, but a few slots at Woodlands Easter camp, conveniently located near the Mid Levels escalator on Caine Road, are still up for grabs. Activities are suitable for 2-4 year-olds and will run from April 14th-25th. Easter Dining

Pig out across the entire Easter weekend at Spasso in Tsim Sha Tsui East. Take your time over a long lunch while you graze the scrumptious buffet of antipasti, salads, seafood and a main course from HK$388. For dessert, there are the obligatory chocolate Easter eggs, a chocolate fountain, macaroons, bunnies and more. Egg painting will be on hand to keep the little ones entertained, while the adults can indulge in free-flow red, white or rosé wine from HK$98 or Prosecco from HK$118, excluding 10% service charge. Also offering a special Easter menu is the brand new Divino Patio at Brim 28 in Wan Chai. From April 18th to 21th, diners can enjoy a Tuscan summer BBQ from as little as HK$368 for meat eaters and HK$248 for vegetarians. There will also be a children’s brunch menu available that includes pizza, spaghetti meatballs or yummy burgers for HK$168 per child. Lively little ‘uns can take part in a classic egg hunt over the Easter weekend and entertainment from the in-house clown on Easter Sunday from 12.30pm-3.30pm. If your family are Disney-lovers, then the Alice in Wonderland-inspired family brunch at Kitchen, W Hong Kong, is definitely for you. Help the kiddies decorate cupcakes and let their imaginations run wild with an Alice in Wonderland Easter egg hunt. Adults can enjoy themselves too with a seafood buffet, including sushi and lobster. The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is running every Saturday in April, while Easter brunch is available on April 20th and 21st. More information can be found here. If you're looking to steal a bit of respite from the kids over the holidays however (good luck with that), indulge in an Italian-style Easter brunch at Linguini Fini. Adults can make the most of Sunday with a glass or two of Prosecco, while the little monsters get messy in the kitchen with complimentary cooking classes at 1pm.
