Economist: Hong Kong Not as Safe as NYC

By Brian Adams 28 January 2015
Hong Kong is officially more dangerous than New York City or Sydney. The report from The Economist, looks at 50 international cities and ranks them based on four factors including digital security, health security, infrastructure safety, and personal safety. Overall, Hong Kong ranked 11th behind New York City (10th) and Sydney (6th). Top honours went to the world’s most populous city, Tokyo, while Jakarta nabbed last place. Before you get too down on our city, we did rank high in digital security (4th), personal safety (6th), and health security (15th) but lagged behind many other cities in the infrastructure safety (40th) category.
