You know you’ve truly made it when a portrait of you is created out of your country’s favourite utensil! If that’s true, Jackie Chan has nothing left to prove after Malaysian artist
Hongyi (aka Red) used 64,000 chopsticks to create a huge (and extremely accurate) likeness of the Hong Kong actor for his 60th birthday on April 7th.

The video opens with Red and the man himself spoofing scenes from Chan’s
Fearless Hyena (1979) and
Karate Kid (2010), before time-lasped footage of the making of the epic piece. Red spent a month collecting the chopsticks before starting work separating them into bundles, tying them together with string and finally hanging them from a steel frame to form the image of Chan.
Writing on her YouTube page, Red said, “As he [Chan] is also an environmentalist, I used disposable bamboo chopsticks to show that discarded materials can be reused and made into something meaningful and beautiful. This art installation is a tribute to the life, art and cultural significance of Jackie Chan.”
And the talented 28-year-old’s hard work was rewarded when she got to present the finished product to Chan at his 60th birthday concert in Beijing. Lucky girl!
