Awe-Inspiring August: Tantalising Events to End Your Summer with a Bang

July 30th 2014 As August brings an end of our blissful – and sweaty – summer season, what better way to cool down during our city’s hottest month than with fun events to distract you from the heat? Bring a sweet end to summer freedom with beauty and fitness, mental wellbeing, party fun, and educational activities to end August right!

Hot and Heavy Fitness

  Just because summer’s ending, don’t get lazy and pack on the pounds after months of healthy eating and hitting the gym. Keep on keepin’ on and make those washboard abs last through to winter with some awesome pole dancing workshops at Pole Paradise Studio. Never tried your hand in the aerial arts? Don’t worry – they’re hosting two trial classes on August 2nd, from 3pm to 4pm in Sheung Wan and 3:30pm to 4:30pm in Sai Kung – so head on out and give that pole a try! If you want to try your hand in static trapeze instead, head on over to their Sai Kung location every Saturday morning this August for their Level 1 static trapeze class. For those more versed in the art of pole dancing, try your hand in visiting instructor Amy Hazel Price’s private lessons from August 1st to 6th. She’ll also be hosting a Pole Tricks workshop on August 2nd from 5pm to 7pm – one the experts definitely won’t want to miss. If that seems a little too girly for your liking, not to worry – head to Elite Personal Training to get on track to a healthy lifestyle with their 21 Day Kickstart programme. What better way to cool down and unwind in the blistering heat than with some classes to improve your mental wellbeing? Let your mind relax and set your body at ease with Kadampa Meditation Centre’s meditation courses. Start your mindful journey with their August Evening Meditation classes on August 12th and 19th, and find out how meditation can help you cope with work and life. Finally, end the month with yet another half-day learn to meditate course on August 31st. If it's been hard for you to reach a meditative state, experiment with a new form of meditation with Shakti Healing Circle's Gong Bath Meditation course on August 6th for HK$100. The sound of the gongs will help to lure you into a calm and soothing state. For something equally as mentally soothing but a little more active, try Integrated Medicine Institute’s (IMI) Tai Chi Classes, which will be held at IMI’s Central branch on August 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th. You’ll be a Tai Chi master by the end of the month! Help to heal and sooth others with the art of Reiki healing.
