7 Places to Watch the Rugby Sevens

By Sophie Pettit 5 April 2016
If you didn’t manage to grab tickets to the most anticipated sporting event of the year, or you prefer to keep your beer inside your pint glass, rather than over your head (pretty much a given if you brave the South Stand), then why not enjoy the live action from the confines of a comfy bar this Sevens weekend? Pull up a chair, pour a pint, and get your Sevens off to a flying start at one of our top seven watering holes.

1. Lee Tung Avenue

avenue To celebrate the 2016 Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, the newly launched Lee Tung Avenue is staging its first-ever Rugby Family Fun Weekend from April 7 to 10. Watch free live broadcasts of the matches on a TV screen set up on turf ground, and enjoy feasting on a range of nibbles and beer from the Family Fun Weekend Market. Booths will be set up for interactive games, while a face-painting workshop will enhance the fun - for adults and kids! Don't miss your chance to meet some of the famous New Zealand All Blacks, who will be making a guest appearance on the afternoon of April 7. Lee Tung Avenue, 200 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, (+852) 2321 8599

2. The Globe

Boasting a huge selection of beers, ales, and ciders at bargain prices, you’ll be hard pressed to find a cushier alternative to enjoy watching all the action of the Sevens away from the crowds of Causeway Bay. With a menu full of hearty grub, and plenty of beers on tap, you’ll feel like a rugby king. And don't miss Happy Hour from 3pm to 9pm on Friday. Now that's what we call a kick off!
