Hong Kong’s favourite takeaway dim sum place, Tong Kee Bao Dim, is known for their large, affordable Chinese buns and various dumplings. While we love their staple Char Siu Bao and Pork and Cabbage Bao, we’re going to have to put those aside for their new, outlandish Ovaltine Bao.

Now available at all branches, the Ovaltine Bao ($8) is Tong Kee Bao Dim’s latest creation aimed to invoke nostalgic Hong Kong flavours. Pair it a bottle of the velvety-smooth Ovaltine Milk Tea ($13) for the full experience. If you, like us, spent your childhood drinking iced Ovaltine at a cha chaan teng, make sure you head on over and gobble up as many Ovaltine Baos as you can before they sell out!

Be warned though—the consistency of the Ovaltine filling is runnier than usual custard baos, so take your first bite slowly to avoid it spilling out. As for the Ovaltine Milk Tea, give the bottle a good shake before consuming to ensure that the ingredients and flavours are evenly mixed.

The Ovaltine series is available throughout Hong Kong at all Tong Kee Bao Dim locations. During their promotional sale period, the Ovaltine Bao can be had for $5, whilst a bottle of Ovaltine Milk Tea costs $9. A limited number of Ovaltine-branded pens will be distributed for free with your purchases, too!
