We all want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the work week, but sometimes it’s just not possible to get out of town. Fear not! We’ve rounded up the best hotels in Hong Kong, where you can kick back on a luxurious staycation, as well as cool off after a long day in a pool.
1. Rosewood Hong Kong
The latest addition to the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront stands 65 storeys high, adding to an already vibrant skyline. Rosewood Hong Kong—the resort group’s new flagship property—opened this March and occupies 43 floors of the new skyscraper on Victoria Dockside. It boasts 91 lavish suites and 322 spacious rooms, most of which offer a stunning view of the harbourfront. Guests in the hotel’s suites can benefit from a personal butler service, as well as access to the exclusive Manor Club lounge, offering food, drink, and a dedicated games room. Rosewood’s 25-metre-long outdoor infinity pool allows guests to do their laps with our gorgeous Victoria Harbour as the backdrop.

2. Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel
The long-awaited Ocean Park hotel opened its doors in November 2018, and its 471 rooms are now accepting guests. Designed by architectural firm Aedas, the urban resort hosts four bars and restaurants, a 1,200-square-metre ballroom and events space. The best part is a large outdoor lagoon and swimming pool, all housed in a peaceful location that lies just a few minutes away from the bustling city centre. In keeping with its nautical neighbour, the hotel lobby features a dazzling 16-metre tall aquarium, and guests can benefit from exclusive deals and privileges when visiting Ocean Park, including seasonal specials.

3. Eaton HK
After making waves in Washington with the opening of the ‘Anti-Trump Hotel’, Eaton opened its doors in Hong Kong’s Jordan district in late 2018. The property boasts all the comforts you would come to expect from a luxury hotel: we just love the rooftop pool and juice bar, as well as the rooms furnished with hardwood interiors and all-natural bath products. Part hotel, part co-working space, part art gallery, Eaton adopts a concept that distinguishes itself from most Hong Kong hotels, focusing on its core tenets of sustainability and social activism—trading in the conventional hotel opening for a Human/Progress Festival, and lining its walls with socially-conscious artwork, and its shelves with banned LGBT books.

4. Hotel VIC on the Harbour
Taking pride of place in Hong Kong’s burgeoning new city centre alternative, Hotel VIC is the only five-star hotel in the neighbourhood. Having opened in the summer of 2018, the 665-guestroom hotel has been designed for millennial-minded, tech-savvy guests—offering the option to check in using a QR code and to use the convenient Handy smartphones in rooms, leaving your data allowance alone for the weekend. Rooms also feature a complimentary mini bar and glass headboards featuring artistic maps of the local neighbourhood, while one of the hotel’s crowning features is its rooftop swimming pool, jet pool, and adjoining restaurant.

5. The St. Regis Hong Kong
The St. Regis Hong Kong opened its doors a mere three months ago, but is quickly establishing itself as a timelessly elegant retreat for tourists and foodies alike. The 129-guestroom property is located next to the Convention Centre in Wan Chai and boasts interiors designed by acclaimed local designer Andre Fu. Two restaurants, Rùn (Chinese cuisine) and L’Envol (French cuisine), both led by Michelin-starred chefs; in addition to a 12,000-square-foot events space of its own make this old New York inspired hotel the perfect place for entertaining. Guests will also benefit from the hotel’s butler and ‘e-butler’ service, available to all guests. The Verandah Pool and Bar is modest but makes for a perfect spot to grab a drink and catch some rays.

6. Hotel Alexandra
Set to open in 2020, Hotel Alexandra will be a new addition to the North Point harbourfront. Design-led Hotel Alexandra will fuse Victorian-inspired decadence and modern amenities, boasting 840 sleek rooms and suites, and a whimsical palatial ballroom. Following an enchanted theme, the rooms types are named after playing cards. Many of them are connected as well, so bring your friends and family. The outdoor pool will overlook the spectacular skyline and help you feel well rested in the heart of the city.

7. The Pier
Intimate boutique hotel The Pier is located in tranquil Pak Sha Wan, where you can really slow down and indulge in some self-care. Shuttle buses run seamlessly between Hang Hau MTR station to The Pier, keeping it convenient despite its faraway location. The 40 state-of-the-art rooms and suites allow guests to bask in tropical forest and ocean views, and are just a stone’s throw away from secret beaches and charming seafood restaurants. The Pier is also the perfect place to reconnect with family and friends, with very accommodating staff to help you celebrate the most special occasions. Just want to relax? Swim to the edge of the terrace pool and watch the yachts at Hebe Haven Yacht Club sway with the waves.

8. Hotel ICON
Support local university students by staying at the stylish Hotel ICON! Managed by the students of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, you can expect top notch service in gorgeous modern surroundings. Hotel ICON has 262 guestrooms, 97 of which grant exclusive access to the Above & Beyond lounge on the top floor. Moreover, the breakfast buffet at their restaurant The Market was voted Best Breakfast Buffet in Hong Kong for eight consecutive years and their in-house spa is run by the experts from Banyan Tree.
