Lovers of Studio Ghibli rejoice! The famed Japanese animation film studio founded by Hayao Miyazaki is bringing nine of their beloved films to life right here in Hong Kong from August 3 to November 3 as part of The World of Studio Ghibli’s Animation interactive world tour. If you’ve ever wanted to visit the bathhouse from Spirited Away, now’s your chance!
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Fans will be able to immerse themselves in the fantastical worlds created by Studio Ghibli through 30 life size 3D box art recreations of classic scenes. In addition, the Studio Ghibli team will be flying in from Japan to supervise the creation of the installations, supported by video footage and special sound and lighting effects to create the most engaging experience for fans. The exhibition will have eight sections, each dedicated to one of the nine featured films, including Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Pom Poko, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Ponyo.
Not only will visitors be able to pick up Studio Ghibli merch to bring home the movie magic, but there will also be Hong Kong exclusive Ghibli items for the diehard fans.
