Hong Kong has been the inspiration for, and the backdrop of, many great films, as well as the birthplace of numerous famous filmmakers. There’s clearly no lack of aptitude or stimulus here, so it’s really no surprise that BAFTA is looking to dip its rod in our thriving talent pool. It is pretty exciting though!
If you’ve always dreamed of creating the next award-winning movie, cult television series or hit video game – and you’re a Hong Kong resident and extremely jammy – you could get one step closer to your goal via an amazing new opportunity from the BAFTA Yip Foundation Scholarship.
The foundation is planning to award a minimum of two scholarships to talented Hong Kong filmmakers in need of financial assistance to fund post-graduate courses in the UK related to film, TV or digital gaming. Every scholarship winner will receive up to £20,000 towards their first year of tuition fees, £10,000 for living expenses, an industry mentor and free access to BAFTA events for a year. Students taking a two-year course will also be considered for a scholarship to fund their second year.
Click here to see the list of participating courses, all starting in the academic year between September 2014 and July 2015. There is absolutely no age limit for applicants and it’s never too late to pursue your dream career, so jump to it NOW!
There’s no time to waste, as the online application form and any supplement material must be submitted by 5pm on June 9th 2014. All shortlisted applicants will be notified by the end of July. If you have any additional questions, contact email@example.com.
Good luck. Let’s hope a future BAFTA winner comes right out of the fragrant harbour!
