By Jenny Leung 6 May 2019

Event Information

START DATE 10 May 2019
END DATE 02 Jun 2019
1 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai
Based on Michael Morpurgo’s beloved novel of the same name, War Horse tells the heartwarming story of Joey, a beloved horse that is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France at the outbreak of the First World War. Caught in enemy fire, Joey embarks on an extraordinary journey that sees him serve on both sides, before finding himself along in no man’s land. His owner, the young Albert, who never forgot his beloved steed, sets out on a daring rescue. The show is directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, and was adapted from the book by Nick Stafford. The highlight is the ground-breaking puppetry by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, which brings breathing, galloping horses to life. The groundbreaking production has been enjoyed by nearly 8 million people around the world, in 97 cities in 11 countries, and now Hongkongers get to experience it in all its glory at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts from May 10 to June 2.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in the UK, Jenny grew up with the best of both worlds. She loves just about anything to do with music and doesn’t shy away from belting out a tune or two when it comes to karaoke. If she’s not out and about exploring the city and practising her photography skills, she’s probably tucked up in bed with a book or glued to her laptop doing her online shopping.
