The Alliance Française de Hong Kong (AFHK) is a self-financing, non-profit-making association run by a committee of local personalities in 1953. AFHK is envisioned to foster French language and culture in the spirit of multicultural dialogue in the city. The Alliance Francaise is present in over 136 countries with more than 835 centers located in key cities such as Paris, London, Sydney, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Seoul and Taipei. There are 3 centres strategically located in Wanchai, Jordan and Shatin in Hong Kong where it shares its 65 years of expertise in teaching French as a foreign language with 6,400 learners every year. The AFHK library (la médiathèque) at the Jordan centre has more than 8,000 items accessible, from classic novels to cooking books, from comics strips to DVDs or CDs. AFHK is more than a language centre. We present over 250 cultural events per year, including the well-known Hong Kong French Film Festival and events during Le French may, reaching at least 20,500 French culture lovers. The Alliance Française de Hong Kong in a few words:Expertise
