Release the Spark Bomb | “Fong Sim Daan”
So, you’re scrolling down your Instagram feed and within two minutes you’ve already seen about a hundred cutesy photos of your friend showing off their new boyfriend/girlfriend – well, that’s called Fong Sim Daan. Basically, Fong, means “release”, Sim, is to “sparkle or shine”, and Daan is “bomb”. The phrase is used to describe affectionate couples whose overbearing love is so in your face that it feels like a bomb has just exploded right in front of you. Think of it like the term Public Display of Affection (PDA), but on a whole new level.
Example: “Singletons should stay away from Facebook or Instagram on Valentine’s Day, because there’s a whole load of icky lovebirds ready to Fong Sim Daan.”
