When Nick and I first met, we connected over our big dreams and our passions to make a difference and help those in need. But more than that, we felt discouraged by a society that is driven by money, material and success. John Lennon once said, “When we dream alone, it is just a dream. When we dream together, it is reality.”
Inspired by his quote, we decided to change mindsets, attitudes and challenge conventions through the power of media by creating Dream On, a six-part reality series with a social purpose. Dream On is essentially about “nobodies” helping “nobodies,” dispelling the belief that only people with fame and money can achieve their goals. Dreams come in different sizes, shapes and magnitudes. They have no boundaries, no age limits, and no discrimination.
In the show we aim to empower ordinary people with extraordinary visions, through creative and unexpected ways of jigsawing existing resources. This embodies the reality show’s core: a global movement to change mindsets, and inspire people to remain resilient and positive, regardless of their circumstances.
Each 30-minute episode focuses on a “dreamer” who comes from a marginalised community in Hong Kong and has struggled in life, but who finds a springboard to fulfill their goals and turn their dreams into reality. One such dreamer is Dixon, an African activist who had a dream to unite the world and end prejudice with his music.
Dream On cannot transform dreamers’ lives overnight, but it is here to help people take the first step in knowing they can work towards a better future, and never stop dreaming, but we need a little help in making their dreams a reality.
That is why we have started a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, in the hope that we can raise enough funds (USD 120,000) to make one season of the show. Once we do that, we hope to pitch the series to some big international broadcasters and secure a deal so we can air it to the public and allow our dreamers to share their stories.
If Dream On speaks to you, please kindly support our campaign. Whether you would like to help us by donating, or simply spreading the word about the show to help build momentum to fulfill the dreams of people who deserve it. Let’s Dream On together!
