The Best Christmas Displays Around Hong Kong This Year

It’s that magical time of the year again, when shopping malls try to outdo each other with their grandest displays of festive cheer, leaving us spoilt for choice when it comes to entertaining our little ones (and ourselves – let’s be honest). So to help you whittle it down, we’ve rounded up some of the most spectacular Christmas displays around town that are definitely worth checking out this season.

The Spirit of Christmas at Lee Tung Avenue

With the iconic Regent’s Street ‘Spirit of Christmas’ light display hovering high above, and a forest of festive trees gathered in the centre piazza down below, Lee Tung Avenue’s festive decorations are the closest we will get to a traditional English Christmas in our sub-tropical city. Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without some snow, and from now until December 31 (on selected dates only) shoppers can enjoy a ‘Snowy Moment’ for 10 minutes on the hour, between 5pm and 9pm. A Crystal Tale at Elements

With Christmas just around the corner, Elements is here to bring you and the whole family a festive season filled with new memories and unforgettable experiences. Inspired by the enchanted Vosges Forest in France, A Crystal Tale Christmas is a mesmerising winter forest display centring around a six-metre-high Crystal Chandelier Christmas tree that is suspended in the air. Brought to the mall in partnership with Saint-Louis, a world-renowned French crystal manufacturer, the display invites visitors to stand beneath the crystal tree and admire its 24 classic Royal chandeliers which feature over 20,000 handmade crystal pieces which glisten and sparkle under the natural daylight.

Christmas Rosemance at Metroplaza

Giving festive lovebirds an ultimate Christmas “Rosemance” this season, Kwai Fong’s Metroplaza will be covered in a beautiful sea of roses, shimmering LED lights, and tons of Instagrammable installations and decor. Not only that, visitors will also get to rest their feet as they indulge in a range of mouth-watering desserts at the White Button Rosy Pop-up Café. Oh, and did we mention that it’s all in pink? We know Kwai Fong may seem far out of your way, but trust us, it will be well worth the trip.

 Christmas Treasures at Harbour City

The Christmas display at Harbour City is one of Hong Kong’s most popular, must-see attractions, and this year is no different. Not only is there a whopping 60-feet-tall Christmas tree perched on the end of a festively decorated Christmas bridge, but visitors can also step inside the world’s largest video kaleidoscope! Simply make a donation to The Hong Kong Blood Cancer Foundation, get your cameras ready, and snap away as the LED kaleidoscope comes to life with brightly coloured visuals of snowflakes, Christmas trees, stars, and more. While you’re there, don’t miss out on the special music and light show along the Christmas bridge that occurs every 30 minutes from 6pm to 10pm.

Create Joy with Cocoa Monsters at Landmark

Watch out folks… the little Cocoa Monsters have come out to play! From now until January 1, Landmark will be transformed into a bright and colourful Cocoaland, filled with adorable Cocoa Monsters created by French illustrator, Frédéric Pillot. From a luscious cocoa forest where the collectors are hard at work to find the best cocoa beans, to the Decorating Tower where the monsters spin their delicate designs onto their chocolates, the magical island needs your help to finish making and packing all the chocolates into gift boxes. But watch out for the Greedy Monsters who will be trying to steal all those yummy chocolates!

Statue Square Christmas Tree

No gimmicks, no special theme, just one enormous dazzling Christmas tree – and we love it! Making its annual return, the grand Christmas tree in Statue Square is filling up our city with warm festive cheer. So why not swing by and witness the beauty of Christmas yourself this December.

Christmas Academy at ifc Mall

Head down to ifc mall this holiday season and prepare for an imaginative journey through time and space at the Santa Academy. Comprised of six interactive checkpoints, the Academy invites kids of all ages to learn everything from how to belly-laugh like Santa, to how to make their very own personalised postcards and stickers to share with friends and family. Collaborating with the Northern Lights Santa Academy, a prestigious Santa school based in the US, the ifc Santa Academy installation gives visitors a chance to see how Santa can handle it all during his busiest time of the year.

Where Christmas Comes to Life at Pacific Place

Take a sneak peek into Santa’s private study this holiday, and wander around floating staircases, levitating objects, and a self-playing piano at Pacific Place. After you’re done exploring, don’t forget to sign up for the elves’ workshop to make a special gift for your loved one, or join an interactive storytelling session at Santa’s Grotto!

Oh Deer X’mas at Cityplaza

Santa’s reindeer are working hard to prepare for Christmas, but there’s lots to do and they need your help! From now until January 1, pay a visit to Cityplaza’s Christmas Happiness Factory and help defend them from the Wheel Attack on the interactive big screen, give them a hand by completing exciting missions, and keep them in a festive mood by playing cheerful tunes on a set of enormous bagpipes! With a little help from everyone, Christmas will be ready in no time.

Get Animated – Joy to the Walk at Fashion Walk

Watch out – Marvin the Martian has officially landed in Hong Kong! Joining forces with Warner Bros this Christmas, Fashion Walk welcomes all to come and meet Marvin and his friends as they make an appearance in exhibitions and pop-up stores around Causeway Bay’s trendiest mall. Not only that, but visitors will also have the chance to win exclusive prizes such as tote bags, and other Christmas surprises worth over $200,000, when they scan different QR codes found around the site, check in on social media at designated spots, or complete particular tasks. Christmas Art Playground at K11

Presenting a multimedia art exhibition just in time for Christmas, K11’s Christmas Art Playground showcases three innovative installations co-created by local architecture studio, AaaM, and Japanese audiovisual artist, Shohei Tsuda. Inspired by Hong Kong’s iconic neon lights, AaaM’s installations combine nostalgic playground elements with interactive lighting effects, and transform the whole shopping mall into an iridescent and artistic playground. Don’t forget to check out the impressive range of artwork by Tsuda too. Blending a mix of daily objects with different colours, light beams, sound, and moving images in a multidimensional arena, this immersive exhibition delivers a sensory-opening Christmas experience for all.

Tsum Tsum Christmas Market at Langham Place

Celebrate the festive season with Santa Mickey, Winnie the Pooh, Lotso, Donald Duck, and lots more of the fun-loving Disney Tsum Tsum friends at Langham Place this year. From a cute Tsum Tsum stacked Christmas tree, to giant floating Tsum Tsum baubles, plus a ton of limited-edition merchandise, this is one of the most adorable Christmas displays in town.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland at New Town Plaza

Venture to Sha Tin this Christmas as Alice in Wonderland pays a visit to New Town Plaza – only she’s not quite how we remember her. Putting a twist on the classic tale, the Alice: Into the Rabbit Hole exhibition, held on the third floor of the mall, features a giant (and somewhat quirky-looking) inflatable Alice, as well as a 30-foot-tall Christmas tree which visitors can climb inside and explore. Alternatively, you can head straight to the fairy-tale-inspired Starlight Garden on the seventh floor, where a ton of Alice-themed Insta-worthy hotspots await.
