The Best Christmas Displays Around Hong Kong This Year

It’s that magical time of the year again, when shopping malls try to outdo each other with their grandest displays of festive cheer, leaving us spoilt for choice when it comes to entertaining our little ones (and ourselves – let’s be honest). So to help you whittle it down, we’ve rounded up some of the most spectacular Christmas displays around town that are definitely worth checking out this season.

The Spirit of Christmas at Lee Tung Avenue

Lee Tung Avenue has kicked off the Wings of Christmas project with First Initiative Foundation to spread a message of perfect harmony this Christmas.  Feathered Ascent created by Nicholas Cheung, an award-winning international Multimedia and Lighting Installation artist, will be displayed at Lee Tung Avenue. This installation with a flock of fifty dove mobile sculptures which marries science with creativity, will shine in the sky of Lee Tung Avenue in winter. Don’t forget the world-renowned Spirit of Christmas light scheme by The Crown Estate’s Regent Street is also returning to Lee Tung Avenue to bring everyone a magical festive celebration!

Christmas Carnival at Telford Plaza

The entirety of Telford Plaza will transform into a massive carnival this Christmas! With multiple interactive stations set up across the mall, there will be a 6 metre tall Christmas tree, a Christmas carousel and a Christmas Train for children and adults alike to dwell in Christmas cheer. Popcorn is also collaborating with Telford Plaza and they have another Christmas zone that takes you to the future of science and technology. This way, there’s something for everyone!

Tai Kwun Christmas Glitter lights display

Christmas Circus at Tai Kwun

Tai Kwun Circus Plays is back with more awe-inspiring contemporary circus performances, while Tai Kwun will celebrate a traditional Christmas with warmth and cheer. Under luminous decorations and a sparkling tree, there will be various live performances where visitors share memories with families and friends. The winter season will also bring Let’s Do Lunch, a new heritage exhibition looking at how the Central district’s one-of-a-kind lunch culture forges unique social connections; and don’t miss the second edition of “Booked: Hong Kong Art Book Fair” at Tai Kwun Contemporary in January.

Line Friends Christmas at Citygate Outlets

This winter holiday, it’s snowing on Lantau Island! The brand-new extension of Citygate Outlets is bringing Brown & Friends characters on a tour of Hong Kong’s largest island district. You may find your favourite Line Friends characters, including 3.5M-tall Brown and Cony-themed snowmen, introducing you to a number of famous Lantau landmarks on the Citygate Outlets ‘Line Friends Jingle All the Way to the Island’ Winter Holidays Excursion. You can even create your own animated festive card or join a handicraft workshop to fill in on the Christmas spirit!

Santa Paws Village at Landmark

At Santa Paws Village, LANDMARK’s Christmas installation, a host of colourful characters in a traditionally-inspired Christmas village are the inspiration behind many of the special Christmas shopping offers and delicious food and beverage experiences to be savoured during the holiday period across LANDMARK’s four buildings. There will be tantalisingly sweet and savoury treats and goods, with all purchases made as donations for “Make A Wish Hong Kong”. We heard Cookie DPT made a special Christmas cookie just for Landmark too!

Catch Christmas lights at Lee Gardens

Lee Gardens will be aglow with beautiful Christmas decorations this year! The major spotlight is on the Atrium at Hysan Place, where their Golden Mirrored Stage will let you indulge in shimmering mirror reflections. Be sure to bring your love to Lee Garden One, where Hysan Avenue has turned into a Starlight Walkway, with romantic lights hanging above your heads that will evoke a wonderful Christmas winter garden. Get your cameras ready for the obligatory Instagram post and fall in love with the Christmas season all over again!

An LED light show at China Hong Kong City

Christmas sure is a magical time and the giant LED facades of China Hong Kong City have been decked in glorious Christmas lights to bring a bit of sparkle into our lives. Displayed on a digital façade that consists of 52,000 technicoloured LED lights on an area of over 2,600 square meters, this year’s Christmas light display depicts animated art across many styles. You can embark on a magical visual journey in outer space through a psychedelic kaleidoscope, into a whimsical world of tantalizing blobs and a fantastic room of illusion.
