Hong Kong is an entrepreneurial city, encouraging growth and supporting new ventures. On the flipside, it has little patience for business owners who lack hustle.
In a city that rewards networking skills with sales, success frequently requires consistent customer engagement. Gurpreet K. Genie, of Sherry Concepts, understands the value of face-to-face marketing.
“Meeting people provides great feedback,” says Genie, who stresses the intangibles of an encounter that go beyond the sale.
For the second year, Genie is organizing the Hong Kong Bazaar, a shopping experience where businesses set up shop for a day and can test out their latest products and pitches among streams of potential customers. (Localiiz is a media partner of this event.)
The event offers jewelry, designer clothing, household goods, decorative items, handbags, toys, books, and more. Customers can also participate in a lucky draw every two hours and help a local charity since Kids4Kids has joined as a charity partner with the proceeds of their sales benefitting programs that hello kids of all ages learn about the importance of giving back to the community.
“Last year we had over 1,500 walk-ins and we have been advertising more this year,” Genie says. Advertising through media partners including Saanjh Magazine, Life on Lantau, HK Magazine, South China Morning Post, The Epoch Times, and HK Yanto Yan is helping to spread the word. Genie also signed Visto Consultant as an event sponsor this year along with supporting partners Indian Expats Hong Kong, Looks Beauty Parlour, and Asees: Blessings of Essential Oils.
To improve the experience for vendors and customers, the Bazaar has relocated from Hollywood Road to a transportation friendly location in Kowloon and increased the floor space.
Vendors interested in securing a space at the Bazaar are encouraged to contact the event directly before the September 27th deadline (email or phone: 3468 2012).
