If you didn’t manage to catch the Backstreet Boys when they played in Hong Kong back in 1996, or the second time in 2008, you might be chuffed to hear they are back again this April for a two day stint.
But with tickets going for a steep $888 (seated) and a whopping $988 (standing) we couldn’t help but wonder if there are better ways for Backstreet fans to spend their hard earned dollars. (Especially since the Boys seem to love coming back to Hong Kong.) So we took it upon ourselves to pull together some alternatives to a night with the boy/man-band. Don’t worry though, we haven’t completely ditched the famous five, they still managed to make a guest appearance on our list.
Buy the Boys on eBay: $620
Virtually shop ‘til you drop on eBay and buy all 12 Backstreet Boys albums (including the live and compilation versions). Or go boy-band crazy and splurge on this ultimate CD collection for just $620. ‘There ain’t no party like an NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, O-Town, 98 Degrees, LFO, New Kids on the Block party!’ We’ve got it goin’ on!
Buy a Home Wine Tasting Kit: $880
Do you remember where you were when the Boys first hit the streets? Did you spend hours doodling their names in your high school notebook or singing As Long As You Love Me into your hairbrush each morning? Why not get your friends together for a night of bubbles and reminiscing with a home wine tasting kit for $880 from Adelaide Cellar Door. With three wines to crack open (including sparkling, white, and red), a tasting note and free delivery right to your doorstep, you’re only a couple of glasses away from throwing on the Boys’ CDs and having your very own home karaoke party. Bottoms up!
Have a Karaoke Party: $780
If you can’t join ‘em, be ‘em! Grab two friends, head to Neway Karaoke Box, and sing all your favourite Backstreet anthems. At $260 per head (including a buffet and two soft drinks) you’ll save $100 on what you would have spent on your gig ticket, just enough to cover your cab fare home.
Hire a Tram: $880
Party like it’s 1993 aboard a passenger tram for $880. Invite up to 35 friends to join you, whack the Backstreet Boys’s Greatest Hits on your portable CD player and take the boys on a tour of Hong Kong island for a couple of hours.
Throw a Yacht Party: $980
Remember that one time when the Boys dressed up as sailors and partied on a ship to the Bahamas for their 2014 Cruise? Yeah, neither do we, but we have the photos to prove it. Re-enact their nautical adventure and hire a luxury yacht with Breakaway Hong Kong. For just $980 per head, (less than a standing gig ticket) you and 14 friends can party like celebrities as you indulge in the A Day At Sea package. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack, plus a selection of wine, beer, and spirits, all while tanning yourselves like A-listers on this swanky vessel. Hello sailor!
And if none of these convinced you, you can still catch the Boys on stage by grabbing your tickets here.
