On NOVEMBER 4, Juilliard trained pianist ALPIN HONG will launch PLAY!, Premier Performances brand new classical concert series for young people 6-16 years old and those young at heart. Touted as "Classical for the iPod generation", Alpin "evokes a kind of Beatlemania when he walks on stage".

He'll simultaneously entertain and educate your kids with a fun and inventive programme including works from Rachmaninov to Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue. ALPIN, a self-confessed unrepentant geek, gamer, and pop culture maniac, will embrace the "supernatural and spirit”, using themes from superhero movies and video games, and television shows (including Star Wars, Superman, Batman, Super Mario Brothers, Harry Potter, and others) to introduce classical music and how they similarly affect the psyche of the listener. INSPIRE YOUR KIDS! Superpowers: ACTIVATE!

Alpin Hong plays the HKAPA on Sunday November 4. Tickets: 3128 8288; hkticketing.com. For more info on the PLAY! series, see pphk.org.

I'm a professional violinist, who studied at London's Guildhall School Of Music & Drama. I took a brief tangent from the classical world as I knew it, and with 3 of my girlfriends, we founded the multi-platinum award-winning crossover electric string quartet: Bond.

I love all sorts of music genres and have collaborated with musicians diverse as Zucchero, Pavarotti, Talvin Singh, Nigel Kennedy, and I'm now working a lot with film composer, Ilan Eshkeri. I'm living in Hong Kong with my husband and 2 gorgeous children.

I'm also relishing my new role as Artistic Director for the new classical concert series PLAY!, through http://www.pphk.org. PPHK is Hong Kong's premier presenter of world-class chamber music and solo recitals.

I met Andrea Fessler, the creator of PPHK on the HK music scene, and we've entered this venture of PLAY! together, which is exciting for us both, being mothers with kids and all! Anyone with kids 6-16yrs old, bring them to the launch of PLAY! on November 4. The concert is titled, "Transformers, More Than Meets The Ear!" Performed by American Juilliard graduate piano star, Alpin Hong. For more information, see http://www.pphk.org Or follow me on Twitter: @lovehaylie.com
